About Lauren N. Tuckey, Esq.

Lauren is a distinguished attorney with a multifaceted background that uniquely positions her to serve major clients in the hospitality industry. After earning a degree in finance from business school, Lauren graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was honored with the National Order of Barristers Award recognizing her as one of the top three advocates in her class.

Lauren’s deep passion for food and wine led her to complete culinary school and Level Two Sommelier certification at Kendall College while practicing law full-time. Lauren is an investor-owner of a franchise and restaurant. This blend of expertise in operations, business, law, and hospitality enables Lauren to adeptly navigate corporate, real estate, franchisee, labor and employment matters for her clients, pragmatically and comprehensively.

Lauren counsels clients to mitigate risk and avoid costly litigation and government charges. Lauren ensures that her client’s operations employ industry best practices and comply with all applicable ordinances and laws. She emphasizes the importance of negotiating strong agreements with partners, landlords, franchisors and vendors to avoid disputes and properly allocate risk.

Where disputes cannot be avoided, Lauren has a strong track record of representing clients in arbitrations, jury trials and bench trials. One of her most significant victories, which resulted in a 40% reduction of fault for a corporate client, was featured in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. Lauren has obtained numerous dismissals of discrimination and wrongful termination claims in government investigations, and has won many arbitrations on behalf of clients in partnership disputes.

A respected leader in the legal community, Lauren has served as president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, collaborating with lobbyists and legislators to advocate for women’s rights at both state and federal levels. Lauren serves on the Advisory Counsel of the Illinois Restaurant Association and lobbies with the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association. She is set to take on the presidency of the Illinois Bar Foundation in the coming year.

In her spare time, Lauren is learning Spanish. She loves hosting elaborate dinner parties for friends and clients. Lauren enjoys adoption counseling at PAWS Adoption Center, where she rescued her street dog named after Chef Thomas Keller and kitten named after Chef Julia Child. Lauren also enjoys playing piano, and learning to play her Martin acoustic guitar and Fender Telecaster.
